The year has started off with less momentum than I’d hoped. I’ve been more than a little sick for two solid weeks now. So I’m left gazing at pictures of our horses rather than actually spending any time with them.
I took this shot in the fall, when Steen and Bear were still getting to know each other. Steen has this funny habit of sticking his face in Bear’s face and then backing off with an injured and wronged expression when Bear pins his ears and sometimes nips. And yet, moments later Steen will be sticking his face in Bear’s face again. Some people just can’t take a hint…

And I do think some horses are more socially 'with it' than others. Steen (as much as I love him) is not super suave… Perhaps Trekker isn't either. 🙂
Ugh, I spent most of a week being sick in December…it was most definitely not fun. Hope you're feeling better soon.
I'm often amused by horses' little "games". Trekker will sometimes harass other horses through the fence. Both of them will squeal at each other (usually more the other horse), and pin their ears, but they both keep standing there. Either one could just take two steps back, and it would no longer be a problem…but no.
That is an awesome picture. Look at Steen's neck – the tenseness. Good shot!
